- Test drove vehicle at the speed of 60 mph, tried braking, no vibration felt, no pulsation felt. Drove on freeway at 80 mph, tried braking – no pulsation or vibration felt at all. While on the way back to shop, front brakes began to squeak loud when slowing to stop. Measured front pads – 8.0 mm. Discard limit – 3.0 mm. Measured rotors: Rt 25.12, Lt 5.05 mm. Min 23.4 mm Measured rear brake pads – 8.0 mm. Discard Limit 3.0 mm Measured rotors: Rt 10.06, Lt10.198 mm. Min 8.4 mm All brake pads and disc are in spec. But none of the brake pads are chamferred and are building some debris around the edges – mostly on the front pads. As far as the safety of the vehicle, stopping is fine, all brakes in spec. Talked to customer and advised her that there was no vibration noted per her concern. Asked her to drive with technician if we may not be on the same page. Further advised customer if the noise does not bother, brakes are safe. Customer request to perform front brake jobs to stop noise Therefore recommended customer to resurface front brake disc, replace new brake pads Customer authorized
- Resurfaced front brake disc, measured: Rt – 24.64, Lt – 24.62 mm. Min – 23.4 mm Serviced brake calipers, installed rotors with new brake pads. Test drove vehicle, stops fine. No noise now and no vibration felt.
