  • Test blower works at all speed and mode. Test zone doors switch fine and temperature control works fine too. But no AC clutch Inspected compressor – rotates, belt routing is okay. Inspected for visual leaks/damages – no leak noted. Checked fan blades and electrical connector – all appear good Checked static pressure – 0 psi – both side Vacuum system for 10 minutes and test leak – system holds vacuum Charge system with 1.10 lbs as per spec and added 2.0 oz of pag/dye, ran air, cycle pressure low side – 30 psi, high side 150 psi at temperature of 40 deg F, ambient temperature of 75 Deg F. Scope for leaks with electronic leak detector, leak detected on compressor housing. Compressor housing has accumulation of pag on the lower side Due to miles and compressor housing leak – recommend to replace compressor kit with new condensor for best results or replace compressor and condensor to validate the warranty on compressor. Customer declined and request to just charge the system temporarily. Other Notes: Upon turning on vehicle, noticed coolant smell. When opened the hood, smell got stronger. Inspected and found the radiator upper casing seem leaks coolant. Recommend to replace radiator Customer declined.
  • EVAC and Recharged system, ran air, cycle pressure low side 32 spi, high side 148 psi at temperature of 40 deg, ambient temperature of 77 deg F. While running for about 10 minutes, heard a hissing noise and found the freon leaks large from the compressor housing. Quickly recovered as much as possible. Advised customer that compressor failure is large and it would not hold freon.

  • Test drove vehicle with customer, did not hear any brake noise Braking is normal and vehicle stops fine Inspected front brake pads – 7.0 mm. Discard limit – 3.0 mm Advised customer if the noise continues to occur, bring it back. Recommend to resurface front brake disc, scuff brake pads and replace to recheck.

  • Checked oil level – okay, Coolant level – low. But very high pressure when reservoir cap removed Engine will not start. Exhaust smells very bad Scanned for DTC's, no DTC – Monitors still to reset Removed spark plugs, all spark plugs are extremely tight – had to use PB blaster to assist Spark plugs on cylinder 1 and 2 came out with broken porcelain and cyl 4 spark plug had oil in it. All spark plugs were fuel soaked, – seem to have been cranked over for long period. Test compression: Cyl 1 – 150, Cyl 2 – 150, Cyl 3 – 120 (low), Cyl 4 – 130 (low) Cleaned spark plug ports, let fuel evaporate, replaced some good used spark plugs and tried to start, still difficult to start. After it started, white smoke (steam) noted from tail pipe. It smell very bad like burning coolant. Ran engine on lift until fans cycled at 203 deg F. Can feel misfire while running at times Performed block test – engine cooling system – after few minutes the block test failed and turned yellow/green. Therefore the head gasket is bad or the cylinder head may be cracked/warp. It would need tear down of cylinder head, pressure for verification. Engine has 202 K miles so it may not be good idea. Recommend to replace another low miles used engine or replace a remanufactured engine. Note: Valve cover would need replacement due to tube seal leak. Customer declined

  • Test drove vehicle at the speed of 60 mph, tried braking, no vibration felt, no pulsation felt. Drove on freeway at 80 mph, tried braking – no pulsation or vibration felt at all. While on the way back to shop, front brakes began to squeak loud when slowing to stop. Measured front pads – 8.0 mm. Discard limit – 3.0 mm. Measured rotors: Rt 25.12, Lt 5.05 mm. Min 23.4 mm Measured rear brake pads – 8.0 mm. Discard Limit 3.0 mm Measured rotors: Rt 10.06, Lt10.198 mm. Min 8.4 mm All brake pads and disc are in spec. But none of the brake pads are chamferred and are building some debris around the edges – mostly on the front pads. As far as the safety of the vehicle, stopping is fine, all brakes in spec. Talked to customer and advised her that there was no vibration noted per her concern. Asked her to drive with technician if we may not be on the same page. Further advised customer if the noise does not bother, brakes are safe. Customer request to perform front brake jobs to stop noise Therefore recommended customer to resurface front brake disc, replace new brake pads Customer authorized
